Actress Reese Witherspoon has publicly joined the world of NFTs by changing her profile picture on Twitter to a World of Women (WOW). She posted a tweet showing off her ‘legally blonde’ WOW #8072 saying ‘gm friends! @worldofwomennft’ to her 2.9 million followers on October 21st.
Changing your profile picture (PFP) to your favorite or a rare NFT is becoming an increasingly common occurrence on social media, especially on Twitter. The actress joins a long list of celebrities who have been repping NFTs as their PFPs.
Reese isn’t completely new to the NFT / crypto space. Back in September, she announced she had bought her ‘first ETH’ and used the #cryptotwitter hashtag. Clearly, she has been putting that Ethereum to work and making it look easy.
We did a little digging into her wallet and discovered she owns three World of Women, three of Amber Vittoria’s Alphabet Collection (the first letter in each of her children’s names), two Crypto Chicks and a Boss Beauty. The actress has also purchased a Cool Cat for 13.95 ETH (approx $52,000 USD) as well as an NFT from Mila Kunis’ project called Stoner Cats.
Reese has made it public that she will be focusing on supporting women artists and female-driven projects. In one of her latest tweets, she stated that her media company Hello Sunshine will seek out female creators and that they plan to attend NFT NYC, the premier NFT event happening November 1st to 4th in New York City.
Although she may be relatively new to the NFT space, Witherspoon has managed to make an impact. She seems to be widely accepted and encouraged by the NFT community and to be already making smart choices within the space. We are sure Reese will soon feel comfortable using NFT jargon in everyday life (see what we did there?).
