Three NFT Projects Close To Launching A Game On The Blockchain

P2E NFT Games

Many projects have promised to build Play To Earn (P2E) games or other forms of blockchain gaming to complement their project, but let’s be honest, not many have delivered. Building a game is slow, painstaking work that takes a lot of skill and expertise, so it’s not a surprise that many projects may be in over their head.

A select few have shown signs that they will actually deliver on their promise. Here is a list of NFT projects who are most likely to drop a game in 2022.

The Doge Pound

The team behind the Doge Pound has claimed they spent 7+ years building online games with over 200 million downloads and have even been #1 on the US App Store. So, it’s no surprise that the Doge Pound rebranded itself to focus on blockchain gaming and plans to become a launchpad for NFT based games.

At the end of last year, they dropped the trailer for their Doge Pound Puppy P2E game, and it looks like production is quite far along. Doge Pound Puppy holders will be able to take their puppies into the metaverse and play in this virtual dog park. You can customize your puppies and level them up by caring for them (i.e. feeding, grooming and exercising). No official launch date yet, but the latest trailer is of actual gameplay, so it doesn’t seem far away.

The Goons Of Balatroon

Playing off the bullish and bearish stock market concept, the Goods of Balatroon is a fairly underrated project that has been quietly building a circular economy with a P2E game at its center. Users will go to war with either Bullas or Bairs in their Balatroon universe that plays out in a P2E card game.

Players can collect rare Goon Cards (which are currently available on their online store) to create a competitive deck. Users can craft superior cards through crafting stations or trade them for their $GOB token on the open market. Over 250 cards are available with varying rarities, classes, and abilities.

Holders of the Goons of Balatroon NFT project earn free $GOB and card packs for keeping their NFTs delisted. Holders are also able to free mint a full-body version of their Goons, which they can customize in their fully functioning Goons Factory. You can play the game for free to earn $GOB tokens or enter gameplay with Goons NFTs to unlock the full gaming experience and earn maximum token rewards. Choose to stake your $GOB tokens and receive rewards from the staking protocol laid out in their extensive whitepaper. Their extensive website and gameplay trailers show they are working to deliver a quality game. One NSFW warning: the game is geared towards a mature audience (think Nick at Nite), so we wouldn’t recommend you handing it over to your pre-teen.

The Guardians of the Metaverse

The Metaguardians were one of the first projects to drop 3D rendered NFTs, making their characters ready for the metaverse and gameplay. They have built an entire universe off of superhero lore which includes Metaguardians, Villains, and the upcoming sidekicks. Their play to earn game is set to launch in Q1 of 2022, so it should be made available shortly.

Holders of Metaguardians and Villains are eligible to free mint other characters that will be featured in the game. They also have exclusive access to game features, large game bonuses, metaverse property and commercial rights.

They have released several sneak peeks and trailers, including mockups and rendering of actual gameplay, so the Metaguardians look like they are ready to deliver on their promise.
