Friendly competition can be healthy both on and off the court. In a tweet on Wednesday, New Orleans Pelicans guard Josh Hart put Tyrese Haliburton to the test by suggesting that his Bored Ape was the better of the two. Haliburton, who plays for the Sacramento Kings, surprised fans by hinting that his Ape would be joining him on the court as the two teams played each other Wednesday night.
As the NBA star eluded, Bored Ape #8409 made its way onto the court via Haliburton’s basketball shoes. The custom BAYC sneakers featured one of Haliburton’s many NFTs and drew the attention of NFT enthusiasts and normies alike.
The custom-made Bored Ape Yacht Club sneakers were designed by artist Andrew Lewis aka ANDR3WTL CUSTOMS. Lewis, a Las Vegas based artist, is known for painting custom designs for the likes of Langston Galloway, James Harden and now Tyrese Haliburton.
Both Tyrese Haliburton and Josh Hart join a growing list of celebrities and professional athletes who have been collecting NFTs for quite some time now. Other NBA stars that have taken the plunge into the NFT space include Stephen Curry, Seth Curry and Javale McGee among others.
