Lazy Lions Promise New Strategy in a Bear Market

Lazy Lions (LL) has promised a new strategic direction for their notoriously loud and enthusiastic community. This week they shared a new article, video, and graphic (that is less of a roadmap and more of a mind map) detailing the future of their project.

In a new Medium article, the Lazy Lions’ leadership outlined a strategy to navigate the volatile state of NFTs and increase value for their holders. Admitting that the brand has not been immune to the NFT bear market, the Lazy Lions are planning on expanding their reach to new industries and sectors. They are also on the hunt for new team members to help make their upcoming plans a reality.

Ashur, Lazy Lions’ most vocal co-founder, shared that the LL team is looking into new opportunities for brand expansion. This includes a TV series, real-world licensing partnerships, and retailing of toys, merchandise, and fashion items. Although most of the strategy is focused on breaking into new markets, there is mention of attracting new community members who are not familiar with NFTs, crypto, or the Web3 ecosystem. This has been a fairly consistent attribute of the Lazy Lions community – an ‘each one, teach one’ mentality.

Moving beyond Profile Pictures (PFPs)

As many other NFT brands are promising, the Lazy Lions are looking to expand into the entertainment sphere. The team plans to develop television and film projects with the NFT artwork and lore serving as a foundation for screenplays and storylines. As a result, they hope that a TV show or movie will draw interest from new audiences. As well, this will possibly inspire the creation of new NFT collections and increase demand for IP licensing. If successful, this will be advantageous to the community’s rights holders.

The new strategy also includes the mention of a game, and metaverse expansion, although this item is not new. The team announced that a game would be developed back in 2021 when the NFT collection first launched, which has yet to be delivered. On the other hand, the development of quality entertainment products takes years even for massive, established brands like Disney and Netflix, so some patience is warranted.

It is no doubt that the Lazy Lions is a marketable brand, and that their community has historically been one of the most attention-grabbing in the NFT landscape. Their ability to capitalize on those strengths will ultimately determine their survival.

Expanding Lazy Lions community
The team plans to recruit industry experts from the television, retail and Web3 spaces to join the Lazy Lions advisory board.

Developing Story Bible
Developing a Story Bible would introduce fresh elements to the Lazy Lions universe, including new characters, settings, and plot arcs. This Story Bible will become one of the key foundations to guide all other content, brand, and artwork development.

Big (and little) screen projects
The Lazy Lions’ are working on scripting cartoon episodes and designing new characters and settings. This is ultimately geared toward bringing Lazy Lions to the big screen.

New website design
There are plans to rebuild and relaunch the website to mirror their new direction and draw in new community members. The website will be centered on the Lazy Lions story which would immerse visitors in the mythology. Additionally, they plan on creating a special section on the website that will provide resources and advice for rights holders to market their own LL- based brands.

ROARwards 3.0
Lazy Lions are working on ROARwards 3.0. Their popular rewards program helped them gain fast popularity in the early days of the brand. A new system for recognizing devoted community members is in the works and is set to launch in March of 2023. They hint this will include a form of profit-sharing.

Hiring new team members
The Lazy Lions team will be headhunting new team members to help execute their upcoming projects. They plan to hire new marketing specialists and individuals with experience in TV and film.

Upcoming deadlines

The quasi-road map does not include any milestone dates. This is great for the LL team as it provides them with some flexibility in delivering on their promises, considering Web3 changes at a lightning pace, and not everything goes according to plan. However, this could become frustrating for loyal Lazy Lion holders if timelines remain vague for too long.
