Put your Twitter fingers to good use with these popular NFT Twitter terms, definitions and acronyms.
NFT Twitter Terms

If you’ve begun your journey down the rabbit hole that is NFT Twitter, you’ve likely come across some rather unfamiliar language. It’s our mission to decipher all things related to NFTs and we have put together a list that we hope will help you fit in with all the cool kids on Twitter.

Did we miss anything? If so, let us know in the comments and we’ll update the list!

BAYC

This acronym belongs to an elite NFT club and it stands for Bored Ape Yacht Club.

Bearish

When it comes to cryptocurrency and the NFT world, ‘bearish’ is not a good thing. If we’re in a bearish market, it means that things are trending downwards. And, if you are being bearish, it means that you don’t have much faith in the market or in a particular NFT project.

Bullish

Now, this is the exact opposite of ‘bearish’. When we are experiencing a bullish market, things are headed upwards. If you believe in an NFT project and its success, you are ‘bullish’. You expect that the project will continue increasing in value.

Diamond Hands

If you have ‘diamond hands’ it means that you don’t sell your NFTs under pressure. You are holding on for the long game.

DYOR

In the NFT space, it’s extremely important to educate yourself and do tons of research before really diving in. DYOR stands for ‘Do Your Own Research‘.

Fiat

Fiat is modern-day currency such as USD, the Euro, a Pound, etc. So, not crypto. Fiat money is legal tender issued by the government.

Floor

The floor of a project is the lowest possible price that you can get in at. It is the price of the lowest NFT in that project at the time.

Frens

This is NFT Twitter slang for ‘friends. If someone refers to you as a ‘fren’, take that as a compliment! You’re practically fam(ily).

FUD

FUD stands for fear, uncertainty and doubt. If someone is spreading FUD, they are likely spreading misinformation and unnecessary panic.

GCG

If you own a Gutter Cat, Rat, Dog or Pigeon, you are part of the GCG family which stands for Gutter Cat Gang.

GM

You’ll see this one A LOT. It means ‘good morning‘ and is often written in all lowercase like ‘gm’.

GN

Yup, you guessed it. The term ‘gn’ means ‘good night‘. Tip: you can use multiple NFT Twitter terms in one tweet. For example, “gn frens!”.

HODL

Some say that HODL comes from an instance where the word ‘hold’ was misspelled. Others say that it stands for ‘Hold on for dear life”. Either way, when you see the term ‘HODL’, it means that it’s time to hold onto your assets and do not sell.

IYKYK

This means “If you know, you know“. It’s basically a way of sharing an inside joke or sentiment.

LFG

Often used to show excitement, this acronym stands for “Let’s f*cking go!“.

LL

‘LL’ can be used on Twitter as a short form for Larva Labs (creators of CryptoPunks) or Lazy Lions.

NGMI

You definitely don’t want to hear this one. This means you’re not going to make it. For example, if someone sells while we’re in a bearish market instead of choosing to HODL, they’re NGMI.

Normies

These would be non-NFT folk. The sceptics, the non-believers or those who just haven’t found their way to the space, yet.

OS

‘OS’ is short form for OpenSea which is the platform where many people buy and sell NFTs.

Paper Hands

If someone has paper hands, it means that they sell prematurely. This would be the opposite of Diamond Hands.

PFP

The term ‘PFP’ is short for ‘Profile Picture‘. When it comes to NFTs, it will almost always mean your Twitter profile picture but it could also be in reference to your Discord profile picture as well.

Probably Nothing

This is a sarcastic saying that’s used when something big happens in the NFT space. For example, let’s say a massive celebrity changes their PFP to a particular project. Holders of that project may say it’s “probably nothing” as in “no big deal” when it really is a big deal.

Pump

If a project is pumping, it means that it is experiencing a large, sudden increase in sales.

Sweep

Sweeping means that someone is buying many NFTs in one shot from a particular project. You’ll often see this term being used alongside the term ‘floor’. If someone sweeps the floor, it means that they are buying all of the lowest NFTs available in that project which then increases the overall floor price.

WAGMI

This stands for “We’re all going to make it” and is shared as a form of support & encouragement to other NFT people.

Wen

‘Wen’ is simply short form for the word ‘when‘.

Whale

A whale is someone who purchases and owns a large portion of a project.
